Former Port Gibson football coach Bo Wright has died

Former Port Gibson High School head football coach Gary “Bo” Wright has passed away.
Wright, who was the head coach of the Blue Waves from 1998-2003, died on Friday.
“He was wonderful and he didn’t see color, he just saw you,” said Rosie Tarleton-Jackson who’s husband played for Wright. He had the great hugs and advice and he would keep those kids in line over there and was very respected because he told them the truth.”
Wright was teaching at Port Gibson High School and was set to retire at the end of the the school. He also served as a principal at the Middle School during one point of his career.
In the year 2000, Wright led the Blue Waves to their first winning season in eight years as they stood with a 7-4 record. He took over that program that had no junior high team before his arrival and restored hope in the football community.
Wright is survived by his wife and children.
