Former Seahawk and 49er Richard Sherman arrested and denied bail

VICKSBURG, Miss. (Vicksburg Daily News) – NFL football player Richard Sherman was arrested on Wednesday and booked into King County Correctional Facility in Seattle for burglary domestic violence, a felony charge.

Around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Washington State Police received a report of a single-car accident which had struck a concrete barrier. The vehicle was found to be registered to Sherman and was abandoned in a nearby parking lot.

At 2 a.m. a 911 call was received from a residence stating a family member of theirs was trying to force his way inside of their home. Police arrived to see Sherman outside of the home. In the apprehension attempt, Sherman fought with police but was eventually taken into custody.

The NFL Player’s Association issued a statement on the situation as well.

“We were made aware of an arrest last night of one of our player leaders for an alleged domestic violence incident and have activated our domestic violence crisis protocol for the protection and support of everyone involved. We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”

Sherman is currently a free agent after playing several years for the Seattle Seahawks. He last played in 2020 for the San Francisco 49ers.
