Former Vicksburg High School football coach Tavares Johnson Sr. is headed back to Hollandale Simmons High School to become the head coach once again.

Johnson first coached at Simmons from 2014-2016 after leaving VHS where he led the Gators from 2012-2014. He won two state championships with Simmons in 2015 and 2016 just before leaving for another head coaching position.

Johnson had previously been the head coach at Northside High School where he had two great seasons. In 2013, Johnson led VHS to a 6-6 record and a trip to the first round of the playoffs.

Johnson will now take over Simmons program again where he hopes of turning the team into champions just as he did before he left.
