Former Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong to receive a key to the city

Former Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong will soon receive a key to the city of Vicksburg.
The announcement came on Monday as Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr shared the news at the Board of the Mayor and Aldermen meeting.
“Natchez did a key to the city and I don’t like being outdid,” Flaggs said jokingly. “I promise a key to the city at another time.”
Armstrong will receive the reward for his eight years serving as the Vicksburg Police Chief from 2009-2017. He was hired by former Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield in 2009 after serving 25 years with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
After his departure from the VPD, Former Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong was hired to be the police chief in Natchez, where he served until retiring in December.
Vicksburg Daily News will share updates about Armstrong’s ceremony as they come in.
