Former Warren Central basketball star Dominique Caldwell has committed to play basketball at Talladega College in Alabama.

Caldwell announced her plans in a Facebook post Wednesday.

“First I would like to thank God,” Caldwell wrote. “Secondly, I would like to thank my parents, my coaches especially coach Lumpkin. They have pushed me to be the best athlete/person I can be. This hasn’t been the easiest decision. From getting injured at the end of my sophomore season, I wasn’t sure if I was going to play on the next level. Going from no offers to having over 6 schools wanting me to play for them in less than a month from the help of coach Lumpkin has been a truly blessing. To all the other coaches that recruited me, thank you for the opportunity. I’m proud to announce that I will be continuing my academic and basketball career at Talladega College.”

Caldwell recently finished her sophomore season at Northeast Mississippi Community College where she averaged 8.1 points per game, 3.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game. She was also selected to the All-MACJC team.

She will be joining the Talladega College Tornadoes impressive women’s basketball team. Its record was 28-5 last season.

Caldwell is a 2018 graduate of Warren Central High School, and she led the Lady Vikings to the class 6A quarterfinals in her senior year.
