Francisco named as VDN’s 2022 Baseball Player of the Year

After ending his senior year the same way it began with a homerun, Adam Francisco has been selected as VDN’s Baseball Player of the Year.
Francisco popped off the 2022 season by helping St. Aloysius secure a 12-2 win over Tallulah Academy. His numbers would only continue to grow as the season went on as he led Warren County in multiple categories.
“I think it was a good season and we had a few guys step, up even though the wins didn’t show that, but in the near future our team will be really good,” Francisco said.
Francisco went from a .333 batting average as a junior, to having a .427 in 2022 along with four homeruns and 32 hits. He also had to step up plenty of times this season to pitch where he ended the year with 52 strikeouts.
Although the Flashes had a upsetting year, Francisco showed up to play each game and lived up to the hype. One of his best performances was against Cathedral when he went 3 for 4 along with a homerun and two RBIs.
Since before the age of five, Francisco has been swinging a bat and loving the game of baseball. His dedication and hard work recently earned him a scholarship to play at Holmes Community College next season.
”I’m very excited to be playing college ball and I’m thankful that I had people around to support me,” Francisco said.
As St. Aloysius saw their season coming to an end, Francisco still gave it his all in a battle against Adams County Christian School that resulted in a 3-5 loss where his last time at bat was a homerun.
“It was the closing of my last four years and that homerun made it a little more special,” Francisco recalled. “I’ll never forget Coach Naron saying ‘I love you and good luck in your future’ as I went around the base.”
Francisco time as a Flash is now over on the baseball field but the memories will last a lifetime as he will be playing on the collegiate level soon. He is now the second athlete to be named as VDN’s Baseball Player of the Year.
“I want to thank both of my parents for always putting up with me and I also want to thank all of my coaches and teammates over the year because they’re the ones who got me here.”
