Vicksburg and Warren County fire fighters responded en masse to ERDC for a possible structure fire Monday afternoon.

At around 1:40 p.m., ERDC Fire Coordinator Lee Williams reported smoke inside an office building on the campus and requested fire response.  Vicksburg and Warren County fire stations responded swiftly to the call with numerous units on the scene in minutes, including Fire Chief Craig Danczyk. Additionally, County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs along with 911 Director Shane Garrard responded to lend assistance.

The building was quickly evacuated and there are no known injuries related to this incident. Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk says after a thorough investigation it has been determined that the smoke was a result of a freon leak from an HVAC unit and there was no fire.
