The Vicksburg High School football team shutout Jim Hill 40-0 on Thursday night.

The Gators struck first on 4th and 3 with a 17-yard touchdown run by Malik Montgomery. The defense also kept Jim Hill in order from start to finish as Jaheim Cattlin got a big hit in the backfield.

Jaleel Fleming stepped up and grabbed a interception and took it to the house for 102 yards as VHS went up 12-0.

Demarcus Johnson continued to hold down the defensive line as he grabbed multiple tackles along with a few sacks.

VHS went up 18-0 at halftime after a 25-yard touchdown run from DeCorey Knight Jr.

Coming out of halftime, VHS continued to hold up defensively by making big plays including when Tyler Carter batted down a pass on third down. Collin Johnson broke out for a 51-yard run to the one-yard line that set up a short touchdown run by Montgomery and the Gators went up 28-0.

The Gator defense forced another three and out after Dennis Battle, Carter, and Johnson took down the quarterback midway in the third quarter.

On VHS’ next possession Ronnie Alexander hit Kedarrius Sims for a 35-yard touchdown.

Late in the fourth quarter,  Mikey Johnson hit Tyler Henderson on a deep pass to push the Gators inside the 20. Johnson then threw it across the middle to Henderson again on the next play from 18 yards out for another touchdown.

The Gators are now 3-2 on the year and 3-0 in district play. They will host Provine on September 30 for homecoming.
