The Vicksburg High School football team crushed Forest Hill 33-6 on Friday as Christopher Lacey earned his first victory as head coach.

On the first play of the game, Ronnie Alexander threw a 46-yard pass to Tyler Henderson. Malik Montgomery took it in for an 11-yard touchdown on the next play and Ced Blackmore kicked a good extra point.

The Patriots came out moving the ball well on their possession but the Gator defense would be able to hold their own and force a turnover. Later on if the first quarter, Alexander dumped a 26-yard pass to DeCorey Knight Jr. which was followed by a 50 yard touchdown pass from the same pair that put VHS up 13-0.

By the time the second quarter rolled around, Alexander showed off his arm strength when he hit Henderson for a 69 yard touchdown.

FH came back out driving the ball down the field until Demarcus Johnson popped the quarterback and forced a fumble.

Knight put VHS in good field position as he carried three defenders and picked up 25 yards. Montgomery scored a 10 yard touchdown on the next play that put the Gators up 27-0 after the good extra point by Blackmore.

Early in the third quarter, Forest Hill scored from a 7-yard pass. They got down the field again on their next possession but a fumble gave VHS a chance to get on offense.

In the final quarter of play, Knight kept applying pressure with some good run skills as he continued to pick up big yards. He eventually scored a 7-yard touchdown.

Defensively, Johnson and Tyler Henderson both led the Gators in tackles along with Dennis Battle who had some key stops. Thomas Hardiman also caught an interception and grabbed a fumble recovery.

The offensive line for VHS had a solid performance as Korzabian Hill, Mickell Jones, Willie Edmond, Roshawn Carter, Brian Hayes and Jayden Woods all paved the way for the win.

The Gators will travel to play Natchez on Friday.
