Gators knocked off Lafayette 82-52 to advance to the second round of the playoffs

Vicksburg High School boy’s basketball team will advance to the second round of the playoffs after taking down Lafayette 82-52 on Tuesday.
After Malik Franklin and Davian Williams both hit two 3-pointers a piece, the Gators quickly took a 22-11 first quarter lead. Tyler Henderson and Mikey Johnson also got on the board in that quarter.
Williams came out hot again in the second quarter while Kamryn Bailey, Kealon Bass and DeCorey Knight Jr. all scored shortly before halftime as VHS took the 39-20 lead.
Coming out of halftime, Henderson helped push the Gators up by over 20 points after getting multiple shots along with a 3-pointer by Jaylin Jackson as VHS went up 62-36.
The fourth quarter began with a nasty dunk from Henderson that made the home crowd go wild. He would would soon get another dunk midway through the quarter while Jackson nailed another 3-pointer as VHS(28-3)easily took the win.
Henderson led with 21 points and Williams followed up with 17 on the board. Franklin added 11 points and Johnson put up eight while Jackson contributed nine. Bailey scored five points and Knight finished with four while Bass and Jalen Banks both had two points.
