Gators pulled off a 38-32 double overtime win against Natchez

Vicksburg High School football team pulled off a double overtime victory on Friday against Natchez in a 38-32 win.
The Bulldogs got on the board after a 25-yard run along with a successful two-point conversion as they went up 8-0. The Gators would respond when Ronnie Alexander threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Henderson who leaped up to snag the ball. Cedric Blackmore got the two point conversion to tie the game at eight.
In the second quarter, Natchez capped off a 92-yard drive to get their second score of the night. Once VHS got the ball back, Alexander tossed up a 35-yard touchdown pass to Henderson to tie the game at 14.
The Gator defense stepped up late in the second quarter with big plays, including a sack by Cameron Nailor.
Natchez eventually got on the board again just shortly before halftime after a blocked punt went for a score as they led 20-14. After halftime they went up by two scores after another touchdown with a 26-14 lead over VHS.
Blackmore came in clutch during the third quarter by running the football hard but Alexander eventually went to the air again as he hit Henderson for his third touchdown of the night to put the score at 26-20 in the fourth quarter.
After a bad snap by Natchez, the Gators received the ball in the red zone at the 16-yard line. VHS wouldn’t profit from that turnover but they forced another punt after Dennis Battle grabbed multiple tackles.
Alexander found DeCorey Knight Jr. for a 36-yard touchdown pass as he went over two defenders to score and that tied things at 26.
Natchez made their way back into Gator territory but Knight picked off a pass to give the ball back to VHS. The game would eventually go into overtime.
The Bulldogs would be the first to score in OT but Alexander tossed it back up to Henderson for another touchdown on their first play.
The game went into double overtime where Blackmore rushed up the middle for the touchdown that gave VHS a 38-32 lead. The Gator defense forced a fumble after hitting the quarterback to win the game.
VHS(2-1)will travel to Terry on Friday.
