Good Shepherd Community Center still standing strong and serving
Good Shepherd Community Center is doing business and is still standing strong and serving its people proudly through their various programs.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world pretty hard, it also allowed many organizations, such as Good Shepherd, to receive funds from the American Rescue Plan Act.
A part of the American Rescue Plan Act is the child care strong funds, which Good Shepherd was able to receive for their childcare services. The funding will help GS make building updates, aid in staff retention, and make security a possibility and so much more. The funding for this program is a one-time deal in which Good Shepherd can use to strengthen their programs in different ways, but mostly upgrading their preschool.
With the reality of having the funds just for a short period of time, Good Shepherd will still need the support they have been receiving over the years to keep helping the community and give families the support they need.
Good Shepherd is still managing to spread their love through their programs which includes financial literacy, anger management for teens, after school classes, counseling, free medical clinic, along with many others.
“Good Shepherd is doing some amazing things. “We are privileged to be in the business of loving people and there is no greater joy,” Executive Director Cindy McCarley said.
Over recent years, Good Shepherd has expanded and created many programs that are aimed to help diverse groups, such as Julia’s Place, which is meant to provide inspiration and empowerment for youth with disabilities ages 14-21 and prepare them for post-secondary opportunities within the community.
Many families and people of the community have leaned on Good Shepherd’s good graces since its existence and they have no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
