It’s time to update your resume.

For anyone in the Vicksburg area looking for a job or looking to change jobs, the Governor’s Job Fair could provide the opportunity you’re looking for.

The Vicksburg Job Fair will be at the Vicksburg Convention Center (1600 Mulberry St,) on Tuesday, August 6, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. There’s no charge for job seekers, but bring plenty of resumes with you.

The community event is held in multiple cities throughout the state to bring together a diverse group of employers actively looking for employees.

“As Governor, it is my duty to ensure that our state is doing all it can to create an environment that produces secure employment opportunities for Mississippians. The Governor’s Job Fair Network was created as an avenue to place Mississippi’s most attractive resource – our people – in front of business and industry,” Gov. Phil Bryant says on the website. “By facilitating connections between job seekers and employers who have real positions to fill, this self-sustaining program helps Mississippians invest in their futures.”

Among the organizations that will be on hand are Entergy, Alcorn State University, Ace Training Services, International Paper, a number of casinos, and several state and municipal agencies. Currently, 32 employers will be on hand, and organizers are working to get that number to at least 40. (For a current list click here.)

Governor Job Fair events are sponsored by the Office of the Governor, the Mississippi Development Authority and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
