Gulfport woman arrested after reporting a fake kidnapping

A Gulfport woman is facing charges after allegedly filing a false report that triggered an Amber Alert earlier this week.

On Tuesday, the Gulfport Police Department responded to an alleged kidnapping when 43-year-old Valerie Faye Lord reported that someone had forced their way into her house and fled with her child.

An Amber Alert was issued for 1-year-old Oliver Jackson Tidwell and multiple law enforcement agencies launched a search for the child.  In less than an hour, Oliver was found safe. Few details are available about the toddler’s recovery, however the boy’s mother is now facing charges stemming from this incident.

Lord was eventually arrested and charged with filing a false police report.
