Gunman dies after two-hour standoff with police, three victims dead

A gunman is dead following the killing of three and a two-hour standoff with Gulfport police.

According to a report by WLOX, at around 9 a.m. a gunman killed three people at the Broadway Inn on Walmart Lane. A witness stated he tried to help two of the victims, one the hotel owner, and the other an employee.

According to the hotel owner’s daughter, the incident began over an argument about money. The argument then escalated.

The gunman then fled and is believed to have assaulted another victim on Rio Grande Street before police caught up with him at the Canal Grocery Store. The gunman then held a hostage inside. Police shot tear gas into the location and found the gunman dead upon entry.

The circumstances around his death and his identity have not been released.
