After stepping up into a big role as a sophomore striker for Warren Central, Gloria Hall dominated everywhere on the field, leading her to being named as the Vicksburg Daily News Girl’s Soccer Player of the Year.

Hall has been playing soccer since the age of five. She started playing for the Lady Vikes in seventh grade and has been mastering the game since. Her years of practice gave Hall the experience needed to lead WC in the 2021 season, a rebuilding year for the team.

“We didn’t make it to the playoffs but I’m always proud of my team and how we did and I’m excited for next season,” Hall said.

WC finished the season with a 9-7 record with Hall finishing the year with 19 goals. Her best performance was in a 5-0 victory over Crystal Springs where she scored three, leading the team to celebrate around her.

Due to her hard work and dedication on the field, Hall was a easy selection for VDN’s Player of the Year Award, as she gave every game her all.

“I couldn’t have done it without my team and it’s not really just all me but I’m grateful and it means a lot because I’ve been doing this for all my life and to feel like I’m going somewhere with it makes me happy,” Hall said.

Hall and the Lady Vikes were under new leadership this year, with former assistant coach Jeremy Lawrence taking over the team.

“Coach Lawrence has been phenomenal and when he took over as head coach he really worked us out,” Hall said. Our team has never been worked like that so he was amazing along with Coach Kacey because she never let us quit.”

Gloria Hall, daughter of Kristi and Andy Hall, is the first athlete to win the VDN Girl’s Soccer Player of the Year Award. She still has two seasons remaining to shine for WC.
