Hazardous waste collection day is July 17

In an effort to help keep the community clean, the Warren County Board of Supervisors and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality have sponsored a household hazardous waste collection day.

The community cleanup event will be hosted at the Sherman Avenue school parking lot, located at 2145 Sherman Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17.

Hazardous items that will be accepted are:

  • Batteries
  • Used motor oil
  • Antifreeze
  • Insecticides
  • Pesticides
  • Aerosols
  • Acids
  • Flammable liquids
  • Paint
  • Computer equipment
  • L.P. cylinders
  • TV’s
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Ammunition

Non-hazardous waste will also be accepted, such as metals and tires.  Paper shredding will also be offered but all staples and paperclips and any other metal bindings must be removed. They will even dispose of any American flag properly if you have a tattered one that needs to be disposed of.

The event will happen rain or shine and all items will be disposed of free of charge. More information can be found by calling the Warren County Board of Supervisors at 601-634-8073.
