Head of Mississippi Development Authority resigns
Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Glenn McCullough Jr. has resigned effective Jan. 30.
In a statement released today, McCullough announced he and his wife, Laura, will be returning to private life at their homes in Tupelo and Brandon.
McCullough was mayor of Tupelo in the late 1990s. Gov. Phil Bryant appointed him to the MDA in May 2015.
“It has been an honor to serve at the helm of MDA with our good, talented people and partners to win economic development opportunities for Mississippians,” McCullough said in his statement. “I appreciate Gov. Phil Bryant allowing me to serve in this position and look forward to assisting with the transition of a new director.”
McCullough is the fourth leader of a state-wide department to resign in the last several days. On Dec. 31, Pelicia Hall, commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, and Marshall Fisher, commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announced they would also be leaving this month. Yesterday, Christopher Freeze, executive director of the Mississippi Department of Human Services, announced his resignation as well.
