Vicksburg High School football player Tyler Henderson is pumped up about the 2023 season which kicks off in just a month.

“I feel like this can be one of our best years of all-time and this group actually won the Little Six Championship when we were in eighth grade,” Henderson said.

Henderson, a rising senior wide receiver, amassed 23 receptions, 481 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns in 2022. He notably excelled in a 42-20 victory over Ridgeland, where he scored two touchdowns.

“Last year I did good but it could’ve been a lot better but this I’m going all in because I’ improved on my catching and gaining yards after the catch,” Henderson added.

In 2022, Henderson helped VHS secure a district championship for the first time since 1990, a year when his father played on the field for the Gators. He plans on leading VHS to even more success in 2023.

“We want to win district again this year then go all the way to state and I know we have the talent to do it,” Henderson said.

VHS will begin its season on Aug. 25 when it hosts Holmes County Central
