Here comes the Trolley: BOMA approves set of rules for new tourist transport option

Executive Director Laura Beth Strickland of Visit Vicksburg went before the Board of Mayor and Alderman on Monday and received approval for the rules associated with the new Vicksburg trolley.
“We’re excited to finally get this official,” said Strickland.
According to Strickland the trolley will seat 24 passengers, with two handicap seats available. She went on to describe how this vehicle will be available for public rental, in contrast to the City’s bus which must be used for certain city related events.
“We’ll be able to rent it out for weddings, and reunions and different things like that,” Strickland elaborated.
There are limitations to the use of the trolley that renters will need to agree to.
“It has to travel within 25 miles of the city of Vicksburg,” Strickland explained.
According to the revised rules document, those interested in renting the trolley will need to make a request “in writing by emailing the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (VCVB) at trolley@visitvicksburg.com.”
When asked by Mayor Flaggs when the trolley will be ready, Strickland answered, “We’re working on getting the wrap complete… They’re working on the design stuff. After that it will be pretty much ready to go in September.”
Strickland concluded by suggesting a ribbon cutting to let everyone know when the trolley is fully ready.
“We’re really excited,” expressed Strickland.
