Park Day is a day that brings many history enthusiasts together to help preserve and detail the monuments that tell the tale of our nation’s history. The National Military Park in Vicksburg will start hosting its event at 8 a.m. on April 10, 2021.

Volunteers will meet at the USS Cairo Museum and be treated to a short program outlying the significance of the park’s historic tablets.

All ages and skill types are welcome at the event. Volunteers will need to bring water, closed-toe shoes, outdoor wear and facemask.

The focus will be on the cleaning and preserving of the park’s tablets, which serve to educate tourists on the events that took place during the campaign and siege of Vicksburg.
