As of 1:30 p.m. conditions around Vicksburg and Warren County have begun to deteriorate rapidly and the treacherous weather’s impact is already being felt.

U.S. Park Service Rangers have notified Vicksburg Warren 911 that they are closing the Vicksburg National Military Park for safety reasons.

Vicksburg Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Grove and Levee after two vehicles slid down a hill in front of the Biscuit Company and ended up in a collision. The street department is en route to place barricades at the top of the hill.

Accumulation of ice is becoming clearly visible on road sides. For those of you who have never experienced black ice, you really can’t see it until it’s too late. This makes it extremely dangerous.

Temperatures are in the low twenties with a feels like temperature in the teens. The time to shelter in place and pray for the best is now; the winter storm of 2021 is upon us.
