High speed chase across three counties ends safely in Delta – VIDEO

Two women are in custody after running from police across three counties and crossing state lines Thursday night.
The Madison Police Department initiated the pursuit after they attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation. The women refused to pull over and subsequently sideswiped a patrol vehicle. As they continued to flee, other agencies became involved in the pursuit.
Just after 9:40 p.m., Vicksburg-Warren 911 was notified of a the vehicle pursuit traveling westbound on Interstate 20 near Bolton.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace and Vicksburg Police Lt. Jeff Merritt instructed their units to position themselves on the exit ramps to prevent the vehicle from leading the chase through the City of Vicksburg.
The Delta Marshal’s office along with Madison Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Louisiana State Police were waiting for the women when they crossed the Mississippi River bridge into Louisiana. Authorities deployed spike strips near the scales to disable the vehicle’s tires, bringing the chase to an end just west of the Delta exit.
The two women were taken into custody without further incident. It is unclear at this time what charges the duo will face.
Sheriff Pace said his agency would not be pursuing any charges, as they were only rendering assistance to a fellow agency. At least 20 law enforcement vehicles were on scene at the point of the stop.
