Hinds CC announces student award winners; several from Vicksburg honored

RAYMOND, Miss. (VDN) — Hinds Community College honored outstanding students during its annual Student Awards of Distinction ceremony on Feb. 20, recognizing achievements in academics, leadership, and service.
Those awards include the following:
Pathways: The Hinds Community College Vice Presidents of Instruction for Academic and Career/Technical programs present the Outstanding Student Award to students who demonstrate excellence in a particular subject area or program of study. The awards are divided by transfer pathway and workforce pathway.

All-Mississippi Academic Team: The All-USA Scholarship Program is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACC), and the Mississippi Community College Board (MCCB). Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society judges all applications and works in cooperation with the MCCB to select members of the All-Mississippi Academic Team.

Award of Excellence: Award of Excellence winners hold a 3.5 or greater cumulative grade point average and have demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service while enrolled at Hinds. Each campus is represented in the award selection.

SOAR nominees: Each campus may nominate one Award of Excellence designee for the SOAR Award. The Awards of Distinction application, scholarship essay, and recommendations for this student nominee clearly demonstrate that this student soars toward excellence in all endeavors. The winner of the SOAR Award is selected by the college’s Executive Leadership Team.
