Hinds County Supervisor David Archie was arrested on Thursday during a board meeting after repeatedly disrupting the meeting and calling his coworkers derogatory terms.

Archie has been charged with several crimes including disturbing the peace, destruction of public property and resisting arrest.

The meeting was called to remove Archie as Vice President and President-elect of the board where it passed with a 3-2 vote.

As the meeting went on, Archie became more disruptive and began damaging property. Sheriff deputies had to place him under arrest.

“Put your hands on me,” Archie said as the deputies stood behind him (reported by WAPT). “I’m in my seat. I’m an elected official. I’m talking about issues that represent this county and I have that right.”

“I want to make sure Marshand Crisler advised his deputies to come into the courtroom to arrest me for freedom of speech,” Archie said.

Archie currently represents District 2 of Hinds County.
