Hinds track and field takes a first at KMS Invitational

The Hinds Community College men’s and women’s track and field teams opened their seasons Sunday, Jan. 26, at the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.

Men’s Recap

  • Freshman Kurt Powdar, of Chesapeake, Virginia, made an impressive debut as he finished in first place in the finals of the men’s 60 Meter Hurdles.
  • Sophomore Al-Tariq Dunson, of East Orange, New Jersey, finished in fourth place in the finals of the men’s 60 Meter Hurdles.
  • Sophomore sensation Corvell Todd, of Byhalia, Mississippi, placed second in the Men’s High Jump finals.
  • Kacey Pratt, of Durham, North Carolina, came in fourth place in the finals of the men’s 400 Meter Dash.
  • The Hinds men’s 4 x 400 Meter Relay team finished in second place in the 4×400 Meter Relay finals.

Women’s Recap

  • Sophia Myers, of Queens, New York, came in second place in the finals of the women’s 60 Meter Hurdles.
  • Ockera Myrie, of Westmoreland, Jamaica, came in sixth place in the finals of the women’s 60 Meter Dash.
  • The Hinds women’s 4 x 400 Meter Relay team finished in sixth place in the 4×400 Meter Relay finals.

The Hinds Track and Field teams will compete again next Sunday, Feb. 2 at the University of South Alabama.
