On Thursday, a vehicle and a horse collided along Highway 80. While the driver of the vehicle and the rider survived the crash, the horse was later euthanized by a local veterinarian due to life-threatening injuries.
According to early reports, the horse was being led out for a ride. However, it became spooked and ran into the roadway where it was struck.
New information about the crash reveals that the driver was actually riding the horse when the collision occurred. The rider sustained minor injuries and was taken to Merit Health River Region, while the truck driver reportedly escaped injury.
Unfortunately, the horse was not as fortunate. Despite surviving the initial crash, it had to be euthanized later.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
