Hunters take down 12 foot beast on the Ross Barnett Reservoir

After hours of struggle, a group of friends managed to overcome and claim the largest alligator to be harvested from the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

Friends Ty White, Philip Hollimon, Hunter Fielder, Michael Fielder and Ashley Harris began their battle on the reservioir around 3 a.m. It wasn’t until after daybreak the group managed to secure the beast by shooting him with a crossbow.

The alligator measured in at 12’4″ and 415 lbs.

Alligator hunting season officially started on Friday in the state. Last weekend, four hunters took down the largest alligator ever officially recorded in Mississippi.
