Hurricane Laura claims the ‘Red Dragon’ and leaves hundreds without power in Warren County

Brandon Carr’s 1984 GMC 4×4 was destroyed by a falling utility pole Thursday.
The truck was parked inside the fence at the family dealership on South Frontage Road. Carr bought the classic with restoration in mind, and it had become a hunting vehicle for him, his son Clayton and his friends.
“Clayton will be devastated about his ‘Red Dragon’ truck,”Carr’s wife, Julie, lamented on Facebook.
Elsewhere in the southern part of the county a mobile home was destroyed when a tree fell through the structure on Bradford Drive.
Downed trees interfering with power lines have kept work and utility crews busy throughout the day Thursday. At around 4 p.m., Entergy reported 832 residents were without power in Warren County, including several at Eagle Lake in the Ziegler Road area, all resulting from trees impacting power lines. Most of those outages have already been repaired.
Both the Vicksburg Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office have additional manpower on duty to respond to the added call volume for service; however, no injuries have been reported in Warren County.
Across the river in Louisiana, Brandon Wilcher, spokesperson for the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office, says similar issues have been seen throughout the parish. Delta Marshal David Beckham says that the village has had a few limbs down, but that has been the only activity related to the storm.
