I-20 eastbound down to one lane, chickens may cross the road

Interstate 20 is experiencing a one-lane closure due to the possibility of chickens becoming uncaged and running across the roadways.

At around 9 a.m., an 18-wheeler carrying a load of live chickens out of Monroe, LA, came to a halt after a row on the bed shifted. The truck came to a stop near the water tower on Interstate 20 eastbound.

The truck is carrying about 4,320 birds. The shifted row is held to the bed by a singular strap.

Authorities have closed one lane around the scene.
