I-20 west shut down at Bovina for fatality – one of five accidents currently being worked

Mississippi Highway Patrol, Warren County deputies, including Sheriff Martin Pace and Vicksburg Police, are working on multiple accidents in Warren County, including a fatality near Bovina at the 11 mile on Interstate 20 westbound.

Sheriff Pace is en route to the Bovina accident to assist with traffic control. At this time the westbound lanes of I-20 are shut down in Bovina while they work the accident scene.

There are two accidents near the Big Black on 61 south. Deputies and the MHP are working on both accident scenes.

I-20 west at the Mississippi River Bridge has an accident being worked on by Vicksburg Police.

Numerous reports of bridges being iced over are coming in for dispatchers.

We will get more information on the Bovina accident as it is made available to us. The Vicksburg Daily News will be monitoring the situation throughout the night but we’ve asked all staff to stay in and not travel the roads.

If you do not have to go out, do not go out. If you must travel, use extreme caution. The roads are hazardous.

As we were typing this story another accident on 61 south at the Big Black is being reported.
