Inmate escaped from Parchman this morning

The Mississippi Department of Corrections has issued an alert for an escaped inmate.

Benny Blansett, 59, went missing from the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman around 3 a.m. today.

Blansett was serving three sentences of 10 and 15 years on two counts of forgery and one count of aggravated assault on a police officer in Marion County, according to the MDOC website.
