Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk has reported the probable cause of the Speed Street fire that destroyed the home of two Vicksburg women.

Chief Danczyk reported:

“Fire Investigator Nathaniel Williams has concluded the initial investigation and a running electric space heater is the fire cause on Speed St. Occupants were not injured during evacuation at the time of the fire. Occupants stated they heard a noise (boom or pop) and the room was on fire. The electric device possibly failed during use causing ignition. Heavy fire was visible at roof upon arrival of FD1 (Craig Danczyk) so fire spread was fast.”
