Is erosion endangering the Mount Alban Road bridge over I-20? Photos and video

The soil under the bridge that crosses Interstate 20 on Mount Alban Road has been washing away for years, but this year, the erosion has been even worse with the nearly non-stop rain.

Posting in a private Facebook group, an observant Vicksburg resident noticed how bad the erosion under the bridge is, and said he sent an email to the Mississippi Department of Transportation questioning whether the bridge remained safe.

The Vicksburg Daily News went to the site to see for ourselves.
