“It’s a horrible situation” – Sheriff Tyree Jones; recovery effort for Ebony Owens continues

The effort to recover the body of Ebony Owens continues on the Big Black River.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones and Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace spent most of Saturday on the Big Black River searching for the body of Ebony Owens.

In an exclusive interview with the Vicksburg Daily News, both Sheriff Jones and Sheriff Pace reported on their efforts:

“The one thing we would like to do is to be able to return this young lady’s body to her family so she will have a proper and respectful burial,” said a passionate Sheriff Jones. “It’s a tragic situation but they deserve to be able to properly bury her.”

Sheriff Jones went on to thank Sheriff Pace and the other agencies involved in the recovery operation.

Sheriff Pace stated later that he and his team will return to the water on Sunday and cover some of the areas again in hopes of recovering the body of Ebony Owens.
