Jackson court denies bond for man accused of beating mother to death with hammer

A man accused of killing his mother with a hammer was denied bond in Jackson Municipal Court, WLBT reports.

According to the report, Dekarius Funches, 21, is facing a series of charges which include murder, auto theft and grand larceny.

On June 15, WLBT reported Funches mother, Latasha Funches, 42, was allegedly beaten with a hammer by her son. Dekarius Funches fled the scene before police arrived and traveled north on Interstate 55. Funches was apprehended near mile marker 193 in Carroll County

On Monday, Funches was denied bond by Judge June Hardwick. His case is being transferred to the Hinds County Court. He remains at the Raymond Detention Center.
