Just a short time after announcing they would participate in one more game in the Southern Heritage Classic, Jackson State University and the SWAC are being sued.

The Southern Heritage Classic has filed a $1.8 million lawsuit against JSU and seeking $5 million in damages per year from the SWAC due to the Tigers’ previous contract. The complaint states, “JSU agreed to play in the Classic for five years, in September of 2020-2024. ”

The SWAC announced last week that they will participate in a new classic in Birmingham that will run through the 2024 season.
