Jackson State University has won the “10K in 10 Days Fanraiser Challenge” against Southern University for the third consecutive time. The JSU Tigers partnered with the Jackson United Way to raise $6,322.90. Southern University partnered with Capital Area United Way in Baton Rouge, LA, to raise $1,275. Together, both universities raised a combined $7,597.90.

“I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this fundraiser. We believe that JSU builds community. We are here to be a form of support to those in need, and we aim to instill the spirit of service in every student who enters our doors,” said Thomas K. Hudson, president of JSU.

All proceeds will go to the Capital Area United Way disaster recovery fund, which provides assistance to families and communities in the Baton Rouge area impacted by Hurricane Ida.

“United Way of the Capital Area is proud to leverage our strong, long-time partnership with Jackson State University to provide much-needed relief for families and communities devastated by Hurricane Ida,” said Dr. Ira Murray, president & chief executive officer. “Not only are we proud of JSU’s excellence on the field, but also the JSU community’s spirit of giving and concern for others. This is truly what makes JSU a special place.”
