The Jackson State University women’s basketball team defeated in-state rival Alcorn State University last night in a 76-66 win.

JSU took the lead early in Saturday’s game and was up by the end of the first quarter with a score of 25-14.

The Alcorn Lady Braves came back strong in the second quarter and were only trailing by four points at the half, with JSU leading 38-34.

The score remained close throughout the game, but Alcorn could not stop the Tigers’ offense as JSU won 76-66.

Both Kaisah Lucky and Ameshya Williams scored 14 points each for JSU to help bring home the victory. JSU is now on an 11-game winning streak and has a 12-8 record, a big improvement from 1-8 just a few weeks ago.

Monday, Feb. 10, JSU will host Southern University at 4 p.m.
