James Monroe Smith, 1956-2023
Listen to this articleOn November 4, 1956, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, a son was born to the late Otha James “Tootsie” Smith and the late Virginia Franklin “Daught” Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Kathryn Huell, Arnold Ray Smith, Lawrence Smith, Janice Jones, and Wanda Gail Smith, and stepdaughter, Tina Freeman Kelly.
James Monroe leaves to treasure his memory: his stepchildren, Micheal Freeman of Sunflower, MS, Rondell and Tony Freeman of Vicksburg, MS, and Tammy F. Purvis of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Debra Harris and Ethel Pearl Smith of Vicksburg, MS, and Patricia Anderson of Jackson, MS; one brother, Charles Smith (Carol) of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother-in-law, Marvin Jones of Vicksburg, MS; one sister-in-law, Veronica Chambers Smith of Aurora, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held for James Monroe Smith on September 24, 2023, 2:00 PM at Mt. Pisgah M. B. Church, 2700 Bovina Cut-off Road, Vicksburg, MS .
Visitation will be held at C J Williams Mortuary Services, 4310 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, MS on September 23, 2023 from 1:00 – 6:00 PM with family present from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.
