James N. “Jimmy” Embry, 1932 – 2023

James N. “Jimmy” Embry passed away on February 4, 2023, at Mississippi Baptist Hospital. He was 90.

Jimmy was born in Rodney, MS on May 6, 1932, the son of Thomas Edwin Embry and Pearlie Ottalie Walters Embry. He raised cattle and loved to bird hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Neal Embry and his 12 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife Jennie Embry, son Lee Embry (Alicia), daughter Julie McClure (Don), grandchildren Sabrina Haynes (Larmie), Hannah Embry, Cole McClure, Clayton McClure and Chase McClure and great-grandchild Adalyn Haynes.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson, MS. Rev. Dennis Lewellyn and Rev. Curtis Gibson will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman, MS.

Pallbearers will be Cole McClure, Larmie Haynes, Lamar Shelby, Lance Dillon, Mac Walters, Lewis Martin, Ray Embry and Richard Embry. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Piazza, Jock Smith, Roy Starnes and the members of Dowd Creek Hunting Club.
