“Jane Doe” lost during Katrina identified 20 years later
Recent DNA samples produced a result of 100% confidence match between a parent and child.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation‘s Cold Case Unit and State Medical Examiner’s Office worked hand in hand on identifying a “Jane (Love) Doe” who was found in September of 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. At the time of the discovery, the local coroner was able to retrieve DNA and fingerprint samples, but due to unavailable information, identification was unsuccessful.
Recently, additional DNA samples were submitted to Othram Labs to conduct a KinSNP Relationship test which produced a positive result of 100% confidence match between a parent and child, identifying ‘Jane Love’ as Ms. Tonette Jackson.
Thank you to Special Agent Christa Groom, Dr. Anastasia Holobinko, and Othram Labs for all your work in helping identify Ms. Tonette Jackson after nearly 20 years.
