Janice Ann Morgan Bettencourt, 1939 – 2020
On Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, Janice Ann Morgan Bettencourt, loving mother of two daughters and grandmother of two, passed away at the age of 80.
Janice was born on July 8, 1939, in Lake Village, Ark., to H.B. and Bertie Louise Morgan. She retired from being a school secretary at Porters Chapel Academy after years of playing a pivotal “mothering” role to many students. Janice had a passion for serving the Lord and spreading his message. She served many years as church hostess and WMU Director for Highland Baptist Church. She prided herself in the fact that she accrued 50 years of teaching Sunday School, beginning at Highland and completing her tenure for His Holy Name at Bedford Care Center of Hattiesburg, her final earthly home.
Janice was preceded in death by her father H.B. Morgan and her mother Bertie Louise Morgan.
She is survived by two daughters, Deidre Dickinson and Kathy Bettencourt Cain; her grandchildren Tripp and Chloe Cain; sister Marilyn Nunnlee; and three nephews Chris, Scott, and Trent Nunnlee and their families.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at Glenwood Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for friends and family will precede that starting at 9:30 a.m. at Glenwood. Following the funeral service, Janice will be laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Eudora, Ark.
Pallbearers will be Chris Nunnlee, Trent Nunnlee, Tripp Cain, Hank Cain, David Pugh and Ronnie Harvey.
A special thank you to Dr. Ralph Kahler and the kind loving staff at Bedford Care Center of Hattiesburg for the special attention given to Janice.
Donations can be made in her memory to the Billy Graham Association or Gideons International.
