Press Release:
Jay Harper has been hired as the Head Baseball Coach of St. Aloysius High School at Vicksburg Catholic School. He will begin his duties in this new role, effective immediately. Harper’s addition to the staff is made after the resignation of former coach, who resigned earlier this month, Sid Naron.

Jay Harper not only brings knowledge of the game but provides continuity to the program after working closely with the Flashes as the Assistant Coach since 2017.

“I am excited to continue working with these great young men,” Harper said. I look forward to continuing their education in the game of baseball as it prepares them for future endeavors in life.”

Harper’s experience on the baseball diamond has included a successful career at Warren Central High School continued by one at Hinds Community College under the direction of Coach Sam Temple.

In discussing his new role with Athletic Director, Coach Bubba Nettles commented, “I am so excited to have Coach Harper at the helm of our baseball program. He has dedicated himself to our student athletes and our storied baseball program over the past six years as an assistant coach and he now has the reigns to build this program his way. Not only does Harper bleed St. Aloysius Purple and Gold, but he is a man of strong faith and will help continue to guide our young men spiritually, on and off the field. That is what I want from our Head Coaches. I welcome Coach Jay Harper and his sweet family our great family here at Vicksburg Catholic School.”

Harper is the Superintendent of Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi. He is married to Miranda Rawls Harper and they have one child.
