Warren Central girls’ basketball team put up a tough fight on Tuesday night as they came up short in a 51-40 loss to Jefferson County.

A. Gaines knocked down a couple of shots for JC to help the Lady Tigers take the 12-6 lead. Jakiya Perkins, Mariah Harrison and Harmony Wright all got WC on the board in the second quarter but Gaines and D. Jackson helped push JC’s lead to 26-14 at halftime.

Coming out of halftime, Wright and Shay Hodge would give WC their best quarter but the Lady Tigers maintained their lead throughout the night.

Gaines led with 25 points in the win and Jackson added 10. Hodge put up eight points for WC and Harrison finished with seven.

The Lady Vikes will travel to play Port Gibson on Friday.
