Jefferson County School District will now require proof of vaccination or negative PCR test to attend athletic events.

The new rule was passed unanimously by the Jefferson County School Board on Wednesday in order to keep attendees and athletes safe.

“We want our student-athletes to play sports this school year, but it has to be done in a manner that protects everyone,” said Adrian Hammitte, Superintendent of Jefferson County School District.  “Our highest priority is the safety of our students, employees, and community.  We believe that these reasonable safety measures will afford our athletes an opportunity to display their talents and protect our spectators and stakeholders.”

Individuals must be at least 12 years old to enter any JCSD athletic event with a requirement of wearing a mask while the policy will go in effect on August 30, 2021.
