Jerry’s Furniture and Mattress Center (580 State Highway 27), will be hosting a Food Truck, Flea Market and Furniture Fair of Fun, Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be a multitude of local talent and various vendors offering an extensive range of items including food, clothes and even jewelry.

“We’ll have food trucks such as Acme foods, who does a great pulled pork barbecue, Squeeze the Lime, the taco truck and Southern Sweets. They’ve been set up here with their snow cones, and they are delicious,” said Bonnie Hales, owner of Jerry’s Furniture and Mattress Center. “We’ve invited people that are flea marketers, anybody that wants to set up a booth of whatever it might be, like jewelry and all sorts of items will be here and set up for the day.”

In addition to the food trucks and vendors, Jerry’s will also be contributing to the day of sales, naturally.

“We will also be having a lot of discount sales throughout the store on furniture,” said Hales. “We have a few closeout mattresses that are going to be put on sale.”

To add to the fun of the event, a Vicksburg native will be making an appearance around noon to serenade the crowd.

“We’ve got music at lunch, also,” Hales said. “The performers name is Doug Bishop, and I think he’s going to be set up around 11 [a.m.] to 1 [p.m.] , weather permitting and depending on how the crowd reacts. I’m planning on having some tables and umbrellas near where the food trucks will be so that people can enjoy him.”

With this event Hales hopes to bring attention to local businesses on “this side” of Vicksburg.

“I hope we can bring some recognition to the food trucks in this side of town,” she said. “A lot of people don’t come to this side of town unless they go to school out here. Also, [Jerry’s Furniture and Mattress Center] has always been a motorcycle store. It’s been nothing but that, and we want people to get used to us being here.

“We also just want to bring more people out to this area that don’t ever come out here to see what it has to offer.”
