Makaylia Shaylynn Jolley of Pearl, Mississippi had her initial appearance in court and was denied bond for the first-degree murder of her 9-week-old daughter.

On Thursday, police were dispatched to North Bierdeman Road where Jolley allegedly thrown her baby on the road. Witnesses said that Jolley ‘repeatedly and forcibly’ threw the infant.

The 20-year-old mother then ran into the nearby woods as police arrived and the child was transported to Children’s Hospital of Mississippi.

Jolley was soon arrested and charged with felony abuse of a child and attempted murder. The baby died on Saturday and charges were upgraded to capital murder.

Jolley has a previous record of drug-related charges.

Madison/Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett stated that the death penalty will be sought in this case.

Jolley has another child, a son, who is in the care of his grandmother.

Jolley appeared in court on Tuesday and was denied bond by the judge.
