Joyce Tatum Raines, 1932 – 2020

Joyce Tatum Raines, age 88, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Joyce was born in Vicksburg, Miss., to the late James Tatum and Eva Tatum.

She was a graduate of Hickory High School in Hickory, Miss. She worked as a manager and buyer for Versil’s in downtown Vicksburg for many years. She loved being with family and friends and cooking for them. Her puppies, Sweetie and Coco, were the best medicine she ever received.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Delores Day, Annie Lucille Raines and Janie Idom and a brother, John Tatum (twin to Janie).

She is survived by her son, Tommy Raines, and her daughter, Rebecca Caruthers, both of Vicksburg; her grandson, Ryan Raines (Priscilla), and her granddaughter, Sarah Raines; her great-granddaughter, Abbey Raines; a special niece, Diane Gastrell; her caretaker, Kathleen Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, at Fisher Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave. in Vicksburg, Miss. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Gastrell, Samuel Gastrell, Richard Raines, Steve Raines, Bobby Raines and David Hosemann.
