JSU men and women’s basketball claim regular season SWAC Championships on Saturday

Jackson State both men and women’s basketball team walked off the court yesterday as the SWAC Champions as they both claimed big victories.
The men’s team, who is coached by Wayne Brent, became the Co-SWAC regular season champions after defeating Alabama State University 79-54 on Saturday.
Tristin Jarrett led the Tigers with 22 points in the game along with Jonas James, who finished with 17.
The men were full of excitement after the game and are now regular season co-champions with Prairie View.
The JSU Lady Tigers claimed the regular-season SWAC Championship with a close 64-62 victory over Alabama State University on Saturday as well.
The ladies are well coached by Tomekia Reed who has now helped the Lady Tigers build a successful program. This is the second year in a row the the Lady Tigers have claimed the regular season championship.
The Lady Tigers will now enter the SWAC tournament against Prairie View on Wednesday and the men will face Mississippi Valley State University in hopes of advancing to fight for the overall championship.
